Afternoon!

Afternoon bloggers.

Thought we would write a quick update to let you all know what has been going on in ThompsonFollows world.
Not much has really been happening, little slow paced at the minute, we are still waiting to hear back from freelancing work we have completed, hopefully all was successful. We have attended some book crits, and the campaigns we have got in our book we feel are corrected and clear, however we have taken quite a while in fixing them, and are now struggling to find new brands to work on. DandAD is calling i hear you, we will most definitely have a go at those, but would also love some other brands, so if you have any ideas or briefs, please do through them our way ( thompsonfollowscreative@yahoo.co.uk). We have also realised that our book is predominately food, yes we are obese people inside average sized peoples bodies trying to get out, but everytime we sit down to think new brands or brainstorm it always comes back to food. For example new work we have been working on includes 'CurlyWurly'. So we are trying ever more to conquer this barrier and work on brands that are NOT food.

Other than those little creative mishaps, we are both quiet well, quite hard brainstorming when we are not both together and at the same table, but we are working on this.

As always we are also on the hunt for more placements and internships, after finishing at Langland we want to keep them rolling, and keep the creativity up and running.
Next blog should include some new scamps hopefully, take care bloggers and until the next time,

Your faithful social networking divas ThompsonFollows

SCOPE!

Update.

Hello fellow Bloggers,

Thought we would give you a quick update of what we have been up to in recent times. We have been at Langland (http://www.langland.co.uk/)for two weeks already, currently at the end of the second week. Times has just flew, slowly getting used to the early mornings trekking out to beautiful Windsor. You really couldn't pick a more beautiful spot for a agency, right next to Windsor castle, you feel royal just sitting here. Anyway, back to the update. We are working on medical advertising at Langland, they advertise to doctors and professionals as well as the public. It is proving most definitely the hardest market and creative work we have done so far, there is a lot of restrictions and barriers to get around, but don't worry we are getting around them.
People at Langland, couldn't of been more welcoming and friendly, cheers guys. We are also trying to fit time in to update our creative book, numerous book critiques have gone by and it has not changed, so it is slowly but surely happening why we are here. So hopefully will have a brand new looking book in the next few weeks, so watch out and keep watching this space.

Right, back to work, update again very soon.

Ciao

End of summer!!!

HUGE!! apologies for not being as regular with updating the blog as we usually are, but here is a quick update on what and where we've being playing hard and of course working very hard the past few weeks.

On the work side, we've been offered a placement with MRMWorldwide on Southbank, a cool digital agency that are very keen on new digital media, we are just waiting to hear back to when they would be ready for us to go in. We are heading to LangLand next week in Windsor for a month for an exciting placement, creative director Shaheed Peera has been so incredibly helpful and supportive of our work and us as a team, and has a great new websites for the industry to spot the best creatives, http://thecreativefloor.com/, check it out. Very excited to be working on new work with them, and being put under some pressure once again.
We also have visited the http://www.thescarlettmark.com/ for an amazing meeting, it wasn't only an amazing book critique, but felt much more like a group of friends meeting up for a drink, very relaxed and easy going. Cheers guys. Other book critiques have taken place at: Ogilvy and VCCP.

We are currently trying to make changes to a few campaigns in our book, after the constructive feed back we received from these book critiques, including swopping lines, photoshopping, and re-scamping. Proving a little harder than usual as we are in different parts of the country at the moment, but be ready to be WOWWED very soon.

So that's it for all the working hard section, how about some pictures for the playing hard section :)

Bombay Sapphire

Possible line of thought:

Proud of our origins. After all, we are not called Mumbai Sapphire.

What do you think?

Range Rover

PREPARE TO BE TRUMPED.

Clearasil

So, we've had enough of stressy teenagers and Vanessa Hudgens talking to us about their spots. We have issues of our own!! This campaign could get pretty dark. The idea behind it is pretty simple. When we have a spot, it is all we can think about and worse still...we are pretty sure it is all people are looking at. Just staring right at the bulge that consumes are other wise stunning faces. We all feel the same don't we? Paranoid or what? Well this got us thinking, we are watched all the time; Constantly, CCTV, Big brother culture and so on and so forth. This then is our idea; that if we are being watched all the time, we may as well try and look good for it. Be proud of having clear skin. The posters need some work (think CCTV screen shots)but the DM and guerilla screens could be fun...

Look out for...

Some exciting work in the pipeline! In due course will be adding some work on:

- Bombay Sapphire

- Range Rover

- Clearasil

Until next time...peace

Mars Bubbles

An update on Mars Bubbles for you too! Don't say we don't spoil you guys.
We've taken our idea of the insanity test and pushed it, creating a campaign around the theme 'mad about bubbles'. We love the idea of workers at Mars really testing all forms of bubbles in order to understand them and hence make the best bubble bar the world has ever seen.
An entirely digital campaign; a website dubbed 'The Bubble Factory', which acts as a vehicle and base for other media. Virals about bubble experimentation and online games which link to iphone Aps or widgets. There is also a TV teaser, 10 seconds long which includes the web address, creates interest and drives traffic.

Ginsters

For a while now and after feedback we have been deliberating as to the brand we could use for our Man Love work. Unfortunately Peter Kay is a bit bloody good so we were fighting a losing battle with John Smiths, however, we have now gone with Ginters and are very happy with the results.
We have added some images and gone digital with matchday projections, this execution is being echoed in other work, also to be displayed on here soon. We are learing quickly about digital advertising and our focus has gravitated naturally to include an added utility to our campaigns. Hope you all enjoy what follows...

Coffee Shops

Well yet again we are in an beverage-establishment scavenging the Wi-Fi networks somewhere in East London. Shortly we may start a new project about the relationship between coffee and internet search topics, or the effect caffiene has on ones typing speed; or just an idot's guide to East End coffee shops. I'm favouring the latter...

I can't help but stare out the window and gaze at the rain as it pitter patters on the pavement. There is something intrinsically beautiful and mysterious about the weather. If it is not climatic activity that captivates my imagination in this urban box, it is definitly the people walking past...'People Watching'? Sapiens greatest past time. (Link to previous post, the notings of elderly men in Spoons.)

The world is full of characters, and I for one want to celebrate every single one of them.

Tuesday 3 August 2010

We were perusing 'This Morning' this morning (watching adverts) when we were greeted by hunks in their trunks (staple mid-morning ITV entertainment) when it occured to us to blog again. I'm not entirely sure why...to keep our hands busy?!?!

Alas, you may have noticed we broke a promise and haven't uploaded more work. That is not because we haven't done any. Far from it, the past few days have been very productive! (My fingers have been warn down to hobbit-like stumps due to ferocious emailing)

We are currently struggling for scaning facilities, anyone know of some where in London? Right at this moment we are both perched in Spoons, utilising the Wi-Fi availability. Has anyone noticed it's cheaper to drink a spirit/mixer rather than have a J2O?...judging by the elderly 'gentlemen' in the corner I think so...things could get messy this afternoon...

Howdie....!

Hello, hello cyberspace viewers, movers and shakers.

Just a little update about our latest news, work and days out. At the moment we are both resident in London, Bromley by Bow to be precise in a tranquil little Island currently called 'Mel's Home'.

Thanks to all the guys at RAPP for a great day in the offices last Wednesday, 23rd, for Gradfest...and that it was. Some interesting and exciting feedback that we have taken on board and use to continue work on our book. Hopefully new work should be visualised and posted at the weekend...once we have control of a scanner!

Ryanair and Mars Bubbles have taken leaps forward and Philadelphia is getting for and more interesting to work on.
BIG sort out of the book with some scrapping and clearing, a success reflected by feedback so far.
Meetings this week about possible placements (at last!), more emailing and a special treat at some point (it's one of our birthdays at the weekend; I'll hold you in suspense at which one),

Until next time peeps

Au revoir

Philadelphia

This is some fun that we are working on. Not sure where it is leading yet but that's half the fun. We looked at the brand 'Philadelphia' and really questioned what it is? The answer....we weren't sure. It's not really cheese but it's classed as one so it's not a set cream either. We have played on this thougth and created a profile for the product. Whatch this space...

Name: Philadelphia

Personality: Confused and insecure. “Phily” has developed an insecurity complex due to a confused perception of its identity and unknown family history.

Quotes: Often heard saying; “I don’t know who I am, am I a cheese or a cream?”, “I may have a hard plastic exterior but I’m soft inside. I just want to be enjoyed!”

Background: Little known of previous life or how Philadelphia came about. Rumours persist that his father, a well known traditional cheese method had an adulterous fling with a cream maid. Philadelphia was the resultant product and packaged off to be its own creation. If trusted, can often be very useful in savoury and sweet dishes, as well as on its own. Once accepted it becomes a fridge essential.

Previous Relationship: Has had disastrous relationships in the past with middle aged woman in the public eye, with a string of offensive TV commercials to their name when overshadowed by Philadelphia’s leering woman ogling another man.

Likes: Crackers, breadsticks, jacket potatoes and long walks in the sand.

Dislikes: Extremes of temperature, being ignored once opened, goes green with jealousy (otherwise known as mould) after three weeks.

Cadbury Live Brief from Brave

Whilst we were at New Blood, Brave set a live brief for Cadburys in the build up to London 2012 Olympics. Under the banner of Spots vs Stripes they wanted to create a game.

We felt it was neccessary to use the chocolate in the game in order to rise sales and so came up with the concpet of Tongue Wars.

Concept: TONGUE WARS
Tagline: IT'S ABOUT BEING THE BEST. DAIRY MILK
Idea: Encourage everyone, anywhere to have their own tongue war.

Holding a cube of Dairy Milk on your tongue for as long as possible without
eating. Think eating doughnuts without licking your lips.
Youtube channel featuring amateur virals of 'battles'
TV campaign featuring athletes - we like the idea of even when professionals
are relaxing they're still competitve and want to win.
Website which you can upload your own videos and times which face a public
vote. The winners get the chance to go against athletes and become part of
future campaigns.

Mars Bubbles

This is a work in progress for RGA during a DandAD workshop at new blood. It was to launch a Mars Bubbles bar to rival Aero and Galaxy Bubbles. We wanted to portray the idea that Mars is always the best chocolate bar and it's knows it. Giving the chocolate its own identity. We think the concept is very simple but the feedback we got was that we have created a back up idea and neeed to think of the initial launch. That we will...
